Margaret E. Finlay
Qualified, Dedicated, Proven Leadership
Thank you for visiting my website. I have been honored to serve as your City Councilmember and Mayor in the City of Duarte for the past 35 years. Even with the positive trends seen in Duarte during my tenure, there is still much to be accomplished - and that is why I am seeking re-election in District 1. With three generations of my family still living here, Duarte has become more than just a place to live. It is my HOME and my COMMUNITY. I appreciate the willingness of so many, who share my vision for a better Duarte, to help with my campaign so that we can continue to be the pride of the San Gabriel Valley. You, along with all Duarte residents, deserve to live, work, and play in a thriving, vibrant community. I will work tirelessly to achieve the goals stated in the ballot statement below. Thank you again. Please feel free to contact me below. I will respond to all emails as quickly as possible.
Your vote for Margaret Finlay will keep Duarte moving forward. Thanks for your trust.

Experience counts – now, more than ever.
During the past six years, Duarte has lost three veteran Councilmembers, with a combined city experience of more than 60 years. My leadership experience and commitment to you, along with my Master’s Degree in Public Administration, have helped me work with city staff to achieve:
Increased grant funding and sales tax revenue, providing funds for additional services for teens and Seniors, while maintaining a stable budget and a healthy reserve;
Sustained growth at the award-winning City of Hope with a new parking structure, 147-room hotel, and Duarte Outpatient Clinic. Also coming soon is the PRO Building (Pathology and Radiation Oncology)
Expanded new mixed-use housing developments near the Gold Line station and on Huntington Drive, providing needed homes and adhering to state-mandated housing increases;
Worked for grant funding with Congresswoman Grace Napolitano to receive $1.6 million for the Royal Oaks bike path.
Crime reduction of 3.5% in Part 1 major crimes.
With your important voice, over the next four years we can:
Continue to address homelessness by locating permanent housing, with job training and addiction recovery programs, keeping our sidewalks and parks safe for public use;
Create a successful wildfire mitigation program while helping residents work together to harden their neighborhoods;
Increase communication avenues for all citizens;
Maintain downward crime trend.
Your vote for me, Margaret Finlay, will keep Duarte on the right path. Thanks for your trust.
